Tier Mobility buys Fantasmo

Fantasmo has developed a camera positioning system that is designed to be more accurate than conventional GPS. Tier Mobility now wants to use it to improve the parking situation for its e-scooters.

Tier Mobility has acquired the US company Fantasmo. With the acquisition, the Berlin-based e-mobility provider aims to improve its e-scooter parking system. The exact purchase price is not known.

Fantasmo is working on a computer-assisted driving assistance system that works with a Camera Positioning System (CPS). This is a new localization technology that is designed to deliver more accurate results than conventional GPS. Tier wants to use Fantasmo's technology to improve the parking situation of e-scooters. In the near future, the German company also wants to introduce a new driving assistance technology that will be able to recognize and punish traffic violations.

Fantasmo and Tier Mobility have already been working together for a year. The CPS is already in use at several Tier locations such as Paris, London, York, Düsseldorf and Leipzig. "We were very impressed from the start with Fantasmo's Camera Positioning System, which allows us to directly address the concerns of vulnerable road users regarding the parking situation of e-scooters. Our plan is to expand the positioning technology to numerous cities in Europe and the Middle East in the near future," says Tier co-founder and Head of Technology Matthias Laug.
