Trade Republic receives 250 million euros

The neobroker is thus expanding its Series C financing round. The money comes from existing investor Ontario Teachers, among others.

In May of last year, Trade Republic closed a giant financing round of almost 740 million euros. Now the neobroker has added 250 million euros to its Series-C. This brings the start-up's valuation from 4.4 to five billion euros.

The money comes from existing investors and Ontario Teachers, a pension fund of more than 333,000 teachers from Ontario, Canada. The fund manages more than 240 billion Canadian dollars in net assets invested worldwide. "With Ontario Teachers, we have one of the world's leading pension funds at our side on our mission to enable people to participate in the long-term growth of the economy," says Trade Republic co-founder Christian Hecker. "We are in the midst of transforming pension systems in Europe. This funding will help us invest even more in technology and products that enable millions of Europeans to make their money work for them."

Christian Hecker, Thomas Pischke and Marco Cancellieri founded Trade Republic in Berlin in 2015. The startup offers a neobroker that allows users to invest in stocks, ETFs and cryptocurrencies and create savings plans commission-free. In the meantime, Trade Republic is active not only in Germany but also in Austria, France, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands and has over one million customers.
