Vorwerk Ventures launches new fund

Although the financing climate for start-ups is much tighter than last year, the VC now wants to invest 150 million euros in young companies.
Backed by family-owned Vorwerk, VC Vorwerk Ventures has launched a new fund for startups. According to a report by the Handelsblatt's the fund is to be worth 150 million euros. The goals are ambitious. The VC wants to use the money to build up coming unicorns.
The fund's launch comes at a time when the financing climate for startups is tense. Compared to the first six months of the exceptional year 2021, the investment volume in Germany has declined significantly. Even if by no means all investors want to talk about a crisis, at least one thing is currently becoming clear: hard key figures are becoming more important again, especially for startups in later phases.
"We have greater opportunities to make interesting investments at reasonable valuations," says Norbert Muschong of Vorwerk Ventures, explaining the launch of the fund to Handelsblatt. This is because, as is currently becoming clear, the sometimes very high valuations for companies are decreasing again, which makes investments easier.
Vorwerk Ventures says it invests mostly in the seed or Series A financing round. The investments range from one to ten million euros. Follow-on financing of up to 15 million euros in further financing rounds is also possible, according to the VC.
