The reusable start-up wants to raise a low single-digit million amount - also because it hopes for tailwind from a change in the law.

The Cologne-based start-up Vytal is launching a new round of financing. For this, the provider of reusable containers is relying on the crowdinvesting platform Wiwin, the company announced. A low single-digit million amount is to be raised in this way. Investors can join from 250 euros, the round starts on November 22.

Vytal, founded in 2019 by Fabian Barthel, Tim Breker and Sven Witthöft, offers reusable containers that can be borrowed and returned via app. The offer is aimed at canteens, restaurants and food retailers. Customers already include Rewe, Backwerk and also the canteen of the German Bundestag. In total, Vytal says it already has 3,500 partners.

With the money it has raised, Vytal wants to attract more partners and expand internationally. The start-up is hoping for a tailwind from the mandatory reusable packaging that will apply in Germany from the beginning of 2023. "Companies and restaurateurs will then have to offer reusable packaging in addition to disposable packaging," explains founder Breker: "Quite a few chains are therefore currently approaching us and want to implement a reusable solution with us."
