Choco becomes a unicorn

Two investors ensure that the company is now worth 1.12 billion euros.

Berlin-based start-up Choco has reached a valuation of 1.12 billion euros. This means the company can now call itself Unicorn and is one of the few billion-dollar startups in Germany. The company has developed a messenger app for the hospitality industry. Last July, the valuation was still 500 million euros - and has now doubled. According to the report, Choco was able to Founder scene Choco was able to exceed the billion euro mark because two former shareholders had invested an additional 102 million euros in the company.

The latest round of financing was led by the Californian growth investor G Squared, which had previously also supported Airbnb or Uber. The fund had already joined Choco in 2021. Now G Squared has teamed up with investor Insight Partners. Together, the capital providers invested more than 100 million euros. Insight Partners had joined Choco in the summer.

Daniel Khachab, Julian Hammer and Rogério da Silva Yokomizo had founded Choco in 2018. Since then, the company has landed 275 million euros. Choco's app connects restaurateurs and suppliers through a messenger. This is intended to replace individual phone calls. In the end, the app should lead to as few delivery errors as possible. In this way, as little food as possible should be wasted. According to the company, 15,000 restaurant owners and 10,000 retailers are already using the app.
