Carsten Maschmeyer convinces professional soccer player of his start-up

HMNC wants to provide individualized treatment for people with depression. Now well-known investors are getting on board.
Holsboer Maschmeyer Neurochemie (HMNC) raised €14.3 million in the first of two planned closings, as Gründerszene reported. Carsten Maschmeyer is founder and shareholder of the company and invests again in the current round. Soccer star Toni Kroos is also investing. Josef Ackermann, former CEO of Deutsche Bank, is also participating in the current round.
Kroos invested in the start-up, he said, because mental health is also an issue in competitive sports. "There, of course, the topic of mental health is also present and is still partly underestimated, although the physical and also the psychological pressure is enormously high," Kroos is quoted by Gründerszene.
With the new capital, HMNC wants to further develop its program for precision psychiatry. With the application, it should be possible to treat people with depression more individually. Founded in 2010, the company has received 42.3 million in financing since its launch.
