GENDORF Chemical Park opens up for deep-tech start-ups
The GENDORF Chemical Park in Burgkirchen is undergoing a strategic realignment: Site operator InfraServ Gendorf wants to open up the traditional industrial site specifically for deep-tech start-ups and scale-ups. The aim is to develop Bavaria's largest chemical park into a central hub for future technologies without abandoning the existing industrial base. The announcement was made in the presence of Hubert Aiwanger.
Focus on industrial scaling
At the heart of the realignment is the targeted support of young technology companies in the transition from development to industrial production. To this end, InfraServ Gendorf relies on a combination of specialized infrastructure and comprehensive services.
The first companies are already planning concrete projects at the site: Munich-based start-up tozero wants to recycle lithium-ion batteries, while PRUVIA from Fürth is preparing to build a large-scale plant for thermochemical recycling. Further settlements are planned.
Start-up launchpad with industrial infrastructure
A central element is the new "Startup Launchpad". At its heart is the 3,500 square meter "Base ONE" area, which has been specially designed for pilot plants. Important supply lines for gas, water, steam and CO₂ are already in place so that companies can start production quickly.
An office and collaboration building with around 300 square meters of space is also being built. In total, the site offers more than 250 services along the industrial value chain.
Political support and industrial experience
Bavarian state politicians see the initiative as an important boost for industry. Economics Minister Aiwanger emphasized the importance of the site for the transformation towards new technologies and sustainable industries.
InfraServ Gendorf also points to its many years of experience in the chemical and process industry as a decisive advantage. This should help start-ups to transfer their technologies to an industrial scale more quickly.
Further settlements in preparation
CAPHENIA is already another potential candidate for the site. The company develops technologies for the production of synthesis gas for sustainable fuels and is examining Gendorf for the construction of a commercial production plant as part of the "BAYSAF" project.
The decision in favor of Gendorf was made after a selection process involving several locations and is based in particular on the existing infrastructure and the strategic focus on sustainable industrial processes.
