Crowd.dev's development tools are to be available as open source in the future. The company announced this at the same time as the funding round.

Developer platform Crowd.dev has received €2.2 million in a pre-seed funding round. Seedcamp and Lightbird led the round, with Possible Ventures, Angel Invest and Nevrseen also participating. In addition, business angels such as Docsend founder Russ Heddleston, consultant Cedric Sellin, Scalevector co-founder Matthäus Krzykowski and Christian Stiebner invested.

Crowd.dev has existed since 2021 and offers a platform for developing online communities. The startup has developed analytics tools and makes them available to developers so they can quickly build a community. According to Crowd.dev's own information, several hundred open source companies have already participated in the closed beta, including Meilisearch, Crowdsec and Dragonfly.

Coinciding with the funding round, Crowd.dev also announced that it would offer its development tools as open-source in the future. "The main reason for moving to open-source was to create our own community where developers and companies come together to build community-led software," Crowd.dev founder Jonathan Reimer wrote in the announcement.
