Founded only at the end of 2020, all signs point to expansion. With its concept, Gorillas competitor Flink could convince new investors.

Gorillas isn't the only company promising grocery delivery within ten minutes; competitor Flink, which officially launched just six weeks ago, is also luring customers with the same promise. Now the Berlin-based startup has raised €43 million, TechCrunch

has learned. The round was led by Target Global, with existing investors Northzone and Cherry Ventures also participating. Also participating are Triplepoint Capital, a Silicon Valley loan provider, and the principal owner of Swedish investor Kinnevik, Cristina Stenbeck.

Flink is focusing primarily on rapid expansion: the startup plans to bring its service to Paris and Amsterdam before the end of the second quarter of 2021, according to TechCrunch

. So far, the delivery service is available in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Nuremberg, Dusseldorf and Cologne, and it plans to expand its offerings in Germany as well.

The concept is almost identical to that of Gorillas: customers order food, which is assembled in the warehouse and delivered by couriers. Delivery is supposed to happen within five to ten minutes, and the extra charge is supposed to be low. Flink was founded at the end of 2020 by Christoph Cordes, formerly co-CEO of Home24, which went public, and Oliver Merkel, who was a partner at Bain & Company. Julian Dames, who is among others co-founder of Foodora, joins as managing director.
