Flink raises over 40 million euros

Founded at the end of 2020, all signs point to expansion. Gorillas' competitor Flink was able to convince new investors with its concept.
Not only Gorillas promises to deliver groceries within ten minutes, but its competitor Flink, which only officially launched six weeks ago, is also attracting customers. The Berlin-based start-up has now raised 43 million euros, as TechCrunch has learned. The round was led by Target Global and also included existing investors Northzone and Cherry Ventures. Triplepoint Capital, a credit provider from Silicon Valley, and the main owner of Swedish investor Kinnevik, Cristina Stenbeck, also participated.
Flink is focusing primarily on rapid expansion: the start-up plans to bring its service to Paris and Amsterdam in the second quarter of 2021, according to TechCrunch. So far, the delivery service is available in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Nuremberg, Düsseldorf and Cologne, and it also wants to expand its offering in Germany.
The concept is almost identical to that of Gorillas: customers order food, which is assembled in the warehouse and delivered by couriers. Delivery should take five to ten minutes and the surcharge is low. Flink was founded at the end of 2020 by Christoph Cordes, former Co-CEO of Home24, which went public, and Oliver Merkel, who was a Partner at Bain & Company. Julian Dames, who is also a co-founder of Foodora, is the Managing Director.
