They had already sold their start-up to Mars one and a half years ago. Now a former Red Bull manager is taking over the reins.

The founders of fitness food start-up Foodspring are leaving their company. Philipp Schremp and Tobias Schüle are retiring from the Berlin-based company, with Gerrit Meier becoming the new boss. This is reported by Handelsblatt

, among others.

Schremp and Schüle had sold their start-up a year and a half ago to US food company Mars, which is best known for its candy bar brands Mars, Snickers, Bounty and others. At the time of the takeover, the founders declared that nothing would change. That is now no longer the case.

Foodspring was founded in 2013. The company sells protein shakes, supplements and snacks aimed at athletes. Meier, the new boss, previously headed the media division of drinks company Red Bull. He had left the Austrians after Dietrich Mateschitz's company abandoned its media ambitions.
