Getir comes to Berlin

Another 10-minute grocery delivery service wants to gain a foothold in Germany: Turkish company Getir is the first to offer the concept - it plans to open its first location in Berlin in a few months.
Gorillas, Flink and Picnic are just some of the start-ups that promise to deliver food to your home within a very short space of time. Now the next provider is coming to Germany. Getir is the pioneer of the concept from Turkey and, according to Gründerszene, the company is planning to open its first location in Berlin in just a few months. And its further plans are ambitious: Getir wants to be represented at ten German locations within two years.
As Gründerszene reports, Getir registered a German GmbH at the end of February and is looking for a team for the German branch of the company via job portals. The first position has already been filled: Simon Rötter, former manager at Deliveroo, is starting as Head of Operations, as he announced on Linkedin.
Getir was launched in Istanbul in 2015 and is now valued at 2.2 billion euros. At the end of March, Getir raised 250 million euros from investors in a Series C financing round, followed by 100 million euros in the Series B round in January.
