Lilium receives major order for 220 air cabs

The Brazilian airline Azul wants to buy the flying vehicles from Germany. The first delivery is scheduled for 2025, but it is still just a declaration of intent.
The air cab start-up Lilium was recently shaky again and its continued existence was dependent on an IPO via Spac. Now the Munich-based company has announced an order for 220 Lilium Jet air cabs from the Brazilian airline Azul. As reported by the Süddeutsche Zeitung, Lilium announced the major order at an investor day. It is still a declaration of intent.
The first air cabs are to be delivered to Brazil in 2025, and the high-speed network is then to be expanded within two to three years. The start-up wants to build the first Lilium Jet as early as next year, and Lilium expects to receive approval and thus the possibility of commercial production from 2024. The air cabs will initially fly in Germany and Florida. The Lilium Jet offers space for six passengers plus the pilot. The focus is on regional routes of up to 250 kilometers.
Lilium was founded in 2015 by graduates of the Technical University of Munich and currently employs 600 people. In addition to the major order, Lilium announced that former Tesla manager Gabrielle Toledano and Henri Courpron, former Airbus board member, will join the start-up's board of directors.
