The former Penta CEO has a new job. Crosscard is to become the new market leader for platform banking.

Marko Wenthin is to become CEO of Munich-based fintech Crosscard, reports Finance Forward. Until September 2020, Wenthin was head of fintech Penta, which he turned around in just one and a half years. He then left for personal reasons and has been taking time out in the Pitztal valley in Tyrol ever since. Now the manager is back.

"The situation is not dissimilar to when I joined Penta; it's about developing a new strategy and then implementing it in a targeted manner," says Wenthin to Finance Forward. Crosscard is to be completely restructured. To this end, founder Philipp Nieland bought out the previous investors together with Wenthin.

Crosscard already has a turnover of 16 million euros. The fintech employs 70 people in Munich and Luxembourg, where the start-up has an e-money license. Crosscard primarily offers credit cards to large companies. Its customers include Merck and Booking.com.

The Viabuy brand is also aimed at end customers. Already 120,000 customers use an account here. "The aim is to move towards a platform offering - so that other partners can also develop their products with Crosscard's infrastructure," the new CEO told Finance Forward.
