France, May 2024 - Microsoft has announced its largest ever investment in France during the Choose France summit. The company will invest €4 billion in cloud and AI infrastructure, AI training and the acceleration of French technology, with the goal of training one million people and supporting 2,500 AI startups by 2027.
Investment in cloud and AI infrastructure
Microsoft will invest €4 billion to develop its next-generation cloud and AI infrastructure in France. This includes the deployment of up to 25,000 of the most advanced GPUs by the end of 2025 and the expansion of data centers in Paris, Marseille and a new one in the Grand Est region, around Mulhouse.
Microsoft will step up its training efforts to support one million people in France to embrace the AI era. The focus will be on job seekers, students, SMEs and professionals. New training programs will be launched to build AI skills for everyone.
Support for French start-ups
Microsoft will support the French startup ecosystem and plans to accelerate over 2,500 startups by 2027 through its new flagship program Microsoft GenAI Studio. These investments are intended to promote the long-term growth and competitiveness of the French economy while respecting European and French sovereignty principles, regulations and values.
Long-term commitment to France
The initiative underscores Microsoft's long-standing commitment and presence in France, where the company has been operating since 1983 and employs more than 2,100 people.
