Personio's 2019 numbers: revenue doubled, loss tripled

The new German unicorn Personio publishes figures for 2019: it was able to double its turnover - but the losses have tripled. This is also due to the investments.

Just a few days ago, the HR start-up Personio achieved unicorn status, and now the Munich-based company had figures for the 2019 financial year published in the Federal Gazette. Accordingly, Personio was able to earn 9.3 million euros in 2019, in 2018 it was still 4.6 million euros and thus about half.

The loss, on the other hand, has tripled from 5.1 million euros in fiscal year 2018 to 17.95 million euros for 2019. This is also due to the investments in personnel and marketing: 98 new hires caused personnel costs to increase by 150 percent. For marketing and sales, Personio invested more than nine million euros, over 200 percent more than in 2018.

Personio is a provider of HR software since 2015, which regulates the entire personnel management from payroll to recruiting in one. It says more than 3,000 customers use its services, and the company has 600 employees in four locations. Earlier this year, founder and CEO Hanno Renner announced that Personio should have 1,000 employees by the end of 2021. He also announced that he is aiming for an IPO of his startup in the near future.
