Quantum-Systems receives 17.5 million US dollars

This is the second financing round for Quantum-Systems within five months. The start-up intends to use the money to improve its software.

Drone manufacturer Quantum-Systems has closed a financing round with the participation of US investor Peter Thiel, venture capital firm Project A and Sanno Capital Invest and existing investor Bayern Kapital. According to information from T3n the sum involved amounted to 17.5 million US dollars.

Quantum-Systems intends to invest the capital in the further growth and research and development of its artificial intelligence, autonomy, robotics and decentralized data processing. Founded in 2015, the company manufactures vertical take-off drones that are suitable for various applications. They are used in search and rescue operations after natural disasters, in open-cast mining, for irrigation optimization in agriculture, for surveying work on large construction sites, for situational awareness and for defence.

In August, the Gilching-based start-up supplied the Ukrainian armed forces with reconnaissance drones. The German government supported the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense with funds from the upgrading initiative for the purchase. Two months earlier, Quantum-Systems had completed a financing round amounting to 30 million euros.
