TGFS invests millions in Pinpoint

Chemnitz-based high-tech start-up Pinpoint GmbH receives a seven-figure investment from TGFS Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen. The company develops indoor people tracking systems based on ultra-wideband (UWB) technology.
The Positioning Platform developed by Pinpoint is a scalable, private solution for infrastructures with a high volume of people and security needs. The company recently showcased its expertise at embedded world in Nuremberg and CES in Las Vegas, among other events. With the seven-figure investment, Pinpoint is now pushing ahead with further company development and market entry.
Our positioning platform follows the Privacy by Design approach. The user decides for himself if, when and to whom he wants to release his position.

Pinpoint's UWB-based system uses a similar operating principle to global navigation satellite systems (GPS, Galileo, GLONASS), but is specifically designed for indoor use. With decimeter-level accuracy, it allows users to determine their own position on their smartphones. This allows the user to navigate within buildings and complex infrastructures or interact with third-party services. The personal and positional data remains on the user's device and is not initially tracked by a third party.
Pinpoint makes this possible with their technology on standard hardware, purely in software, decentralized in a wireless mesh network.
