Theion gets prominent investor

The lithium battery start-up is able to attract serial founder Lukasz Gadowski as a business angel. In the medium term, the company wants to produce more environmentally friendly and efficient e-car batteries.
Veteran founder Lukasz Gadowski is joining Berlin-based startup Theion. This was announced by the company. In addition to Gadowski, founder and investor Thomas Andrae and Benjamin Braun are also involved in the seed round. Nothing was initially disclosed about the amount of the funding.
Theion is working on a lithium battery for use in e-cars. The company says this will charge faster than conventional models, have a higher capacity and be manufactured in a more environmentally friendly way, such as by eliminating cobalt and recycling industrial waste.
Theion launched just last year. The company is backed by CEO Florian Ruess, formerly an engineer at Airbus and OHB, and CTO Marek Slavik, who has been on the battery scene for many years.
