EQT launches new growth fund for Europe

With a volume of EUR 2.4 billion, the EQT Growth Fund is set to be the largest growth fund in Europe.

The European growth investor EQT has launched a new growth fund, sending a clear signal to the European start-up sector. The EQT Growth Fund has EUR 2.2 billion under management, and with further investment commitments it will even reach EUR 2.41 billion. EQT had originally targeted a volume of just two billion euros.

The fund will invest in leading technology companies in Europe and Israel. The amount of the investments should be between 50 and 200 million euros. EQT is looking for companies with products that have already proven themselves on the market, primarily in the enterprise, con/prosumer, healthcare and climate sectors. The fund has already invested in seven companies, including Epidemic Sound, Mambu and Vinted. According to EQT, around two thirds of the capital is still available for future investments.

"The speed at which the European and Israeli tech ecosystem has developed over the last decade is testament to the success of the many innovative, young companies based in the region," says Marc Brown, Partner and Head of EQT Growth's Advisory Team. However, the lack of European investors with the expertise and capital to help these companies scale has meant that many of them have had to look outside Europe for support during their growth phase.
