EQT launches new growth fund for Europe
Jan Schulte | 12.09.2022With a volume of EUR 2.4 billion, the EQT Growth Fund is said to be the largest growth fund in the whole of Europe.
European growth investor EQT has launched a new growth fund, sending a clear signal to the European start-up industry. The EQT Growth Fund has EUR 2.2 billion under management, and with additional investment commitments it will reach EUR 2.41 billion. EQT had originally targeted a volume of only two billion euros.
The fund will invest in leading technology companies in Europe and Israel. The size of the investments is expected to be between 50 and 200 million euros. EQT is looking for companies with proven products, especially in the enterprise, con/prosumer, healthcare and climate sectors. The fund has already invested in seven companies, including Epidemic Sound, Mambu and Vinted. About two-thirds of the capital is still available for future investment, according to EQT.
"The speed at which the European and Israeli tech ecosystem has developed over the past decade is testament to the success of the many innovative, young companies that call the region home," said Marc Brown, partner and head of EQT Growth's advisory team. However, he says the lack of European investors who have the expertise and capital to help these companies scale has meant that many have had to seek support outside of Europe during their growth phase.
