The Hamburg-based start-up for online psychological courses has raised money from international venture capitalists such as Healthcap and Expon Capital.

Just last week, Hellobetter's first therapy made it into the Digital Health Applications (DiGa) directory, and now the Hamburg-based start-up has more good news to announce. The company has raised six million euros in its Series A financing round. The money comes from venture capitalists Healthcap and Expon Capital, but existing investor Hevella Capital is also back on board. The new investor is Sparrow Ventures, the growth capital provider of the Migros Group from Switzerland. The money will be used to drive forward Hellobetter 's platform and the company's expansion.

"Together, we want to build the European market leader for prescription digital therapies," says Hannes Klöpper, CEO of the start-up founded in 2015. The aim is to "further develop the care system for mental illnesses through the use of highly effective prevention and treatment services for mental illnesses". Hellobetter has individual health insurance companies on its side that cover the costs of the study-based programs. Around 100 companies also offer the courses to their employees. The online help for stress and burnout is included in the DiGa and can therefore be prescribed by doctors and psychologists to anyone in Germany.

The investors were also impressed by Hellobetter 's offering: "Hellobetter's achievements to date are impressive: the traction in the context of selective contracts with well-known insurance companies, the high-quality and extensive scientific evidence and the first-class, experienced founding team," says Healthcap partner Staffan Lindstrand. "We firmly believe that Hellobetter will bring significant benefits to patients, treating physicians and payers in the coming years."

The start-up now employs more than 70 people in Berlin and Hamburg and offers a total of ten therapy courses in eight areas such as depression, anxiety and panic disorders, vaginismus and chronic pain.
