Munich Accelerator Life Sciences & Medicine receives funding from the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs

The new incubator provides start-up support for newly founded biotechnology start-ups. They benefit from coaching, laboratory workstations and networking opportunities.

A new start-up incubator will be launched in Munich's Martinsried district next year. The Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs is now funding the establishment of the "Munich Accelerator Life Sciences & Medicine" (Maxl) with 8.5 million euros. The incubator is intended to support biotechnology start-ups shortly after their foundation and pre-seed projects. The start-ups receive coaching and training, can work at fully equipped laboratory workstations and in co-working spaces and network with each other.

The incubator will be managed by BioM. The company already supports young companies with a virtual incubator, the inqlab program. BioM helps founders to develop a business model and a business plan and to find funding opportunities.

"We are very much looking forward to being able to offer our teams a further service tailored to the needs of early-stage life science start-ups in the future and to support the start-ups even more specifically on their path," says Petra Burgstaller, responsible for the inqlab program, about the new incubator. "With this offer, it will be possible to bring the teams into an even closer exchange with each other and with relevant partners as early as possible."
