New funding round for delivery service Gorillas

The delivery service Gorillas was able to raise 36 million euros in Series A. Two investors join the Supervisory Board.
Gorillas, the food delivery service, has raised 36 million euros in Series A funding. The investment round is led by the American hedge fund Coatue. Coatue managers Daniel Senft and Bennett Siegel will become members of Gorillas' supervisory board, reports Techcrunch.
Gorillas was only founded in May of this year by Kağan Sümer and Jörg Kattner
and advertises that it delivers groceries within ten minutes. The service currently operates in Berlin and Cologne. The drivers are employed directly by Gorillas. A total of 150 employees work for the Berlin start-up. Anyone ordering from Gorillas will see a range of groceries at retail prices. A delivery fee of 1.80 euros is added to every order.
The money is to be used for expansion. Gorillas plans to deliver to 15 cities in Germany and Europe by June 2021. The first international destination will be Amsterdam.
