Online farm market Frischepost insolvent

A Berlin e-food company wanted to take over the delivery service two months ago. However, Frischepost is currently without an owner or funding.

The start-up Frischepost was only taken over by Footprint Club in mid-May. However, it has now filed for insolvency proceedings to be opened. According to Gründerszene, the seven-year-old company cites a botched transaction as the cause.

According to the provisional insolvency administrator Finn Peters, this refers to the new owner Footprint Club. When asked by Gründerszene , the lawyer did not want to comment on why the expected takeover did not take place. He is "very sure" that a solution will nevertheless be found.

Frischepost has received millions in investment since its foundation, including from the Munich-based impact fund Bonventure, the Gütersloh-based private equity company Sunrise Capital and the oat producer Peter Kölln. The purchase price paid by Footprint Club for the start-up was not disclosed at the time. The aim was to bring together many e-food companies in the conglomerate.

Once the insolvency proceedings have been completed, Frischepost should be able to continue. According to the insolvency administrator, the online farm market could have found a new partner by the end of August. The 65 employees will continue to be paid, while business operations will continue until then.

Frischepost is currently only active in Hamburg. Eva Neugebauer started the company there with Juliane Willing in 2015. Willing withdrew from the active business a few months ago. Neugebauer is optimistic despite the insolvency proceedings: "We are now holding intensive talks with companies that have been expressing interest in a takeover for a long time."
