Penny cooperates with Bringoo

The discounter now also wants to deliver food to the doorstep. For this, it is using the start-up from Hamburg.
In recent months, the financing rounds for the 10-minute delivery services have been overflowing and supermarkets such as Rewe have also long offered home delivery. Now Penny is the first discounter to follow suit and is relying on the Hamburg-based start-up Bringoo.
As reported byLebensmittelzeitung (LZ), the service will initially be launched in major cities such as Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne and then rolled out across Germany in stages. In the long term, small towns with fewer than 100,000 inhabitants are also to be given the opportunity to order from Penny via Bringoo and have groceries delivered to their homes.
Unlike the somewhat higher-priced supermarkets such as Rewe, however, customers at Penny have to pay for delivery. 2.90 euros are currently due. The groceries, on the other hand, are supposed to be just as expensive as in the store, and the order is placed via the Penny app. Bringoo then delivers the products within 45 minutes, which is significantly slower than many other food delivery services such as Gorillas. The Berlin-based start-up promises delivery within ten minutes.
Hasib Khan came up with the idea for the start-up in 2018, and in the following two years he founded Bringoo and set up a team. Users have been able to order groceries from supermarkets via the Bringoo app since as early as 2020. Deliveries are made by cargo bike or car, and by the end of 2021 the start-up wants to use electric cars.
