This brings Tiger Media's offering to 10,000 titles. The exact amount of Sony Music's stake in the start-up is unknown.

Today, some children don't necessarily own a smartphone, but a small box for audio plays and music, easy to operate by touch. The company behind it: Tiger Media. Sony Music Entertainment Germany is now taking a stake in the German start-up, the amount of the shares remains secret. Tiger Media thus increases its equity capital and gains access to the Sony Music world. The company plans to connect its kids content of the children's radio play label "Europa" to Tiger Media's streaming service by the beginning of September. This will grow Tiger Media's offering from over 6,000 titles to 10,000.

"The investment and content package from Sony Music will now enable us to continue to strongly expand this business and allow all industry participants who are already connected with licensed content to share in the growing success," says Till Weitendorf, who founded the company together with Martin Kurzhals. André Mühlhausen of Sony Music says: "We see Tiger Media as an ideal partner to accelerate our digital business and implement our content strategy."

Tiger Media is a spin-off from the publishing house Oetinger. Launched in 2014 as an app, at some point the collaboration was no longer a good fit. Weitendorf then founded Kindermedien-Holding, under which five start-ups are now bundled. In 2016, the app disappeared and the first streaming platform for children was launched; in 2017, Tiger Media sold its first audio play boxes.
