Sustainable partnership for a good cause: SPRK.global and Tafel Potsdam extend their collaboration and have so far successfully distributed 75 tons of perfectly edible food to those in need
Berlin, November 13, 2023 - Berlin-based start-up SPRK.global and Tafel Potsdam have announced that they have so far distributed 75 tons of overproduced food to those in need and are continuing their partnership. The collaboration has been in place since 2021 and aims to reduce hunger and minimize the waste of resources along the food supply chain.
SPRK.global operates a B2B distribution platform for overproduced food from the supply chain. Tafel Potsdam benefits from fresh and surplus goods that SPRK.global identifies within the supply chain and distributes as needed. With its digital platform, SPRK.global is committed to reducing food waste in the supply chain. In 2020, the startup was awarded first place in the "Tech For Good" competition XTC Extreme Tech Challenge and has been nominated for various awards, including the German Digital Prize. We already reported on the opening of the deli in Berlin in 2021.
The cooperation is a win-win situation for everyone involved. Our mission is to reduce food waste worldwide and provide all purchasing partners along the supply chain with exactly the food they really need.

Tafel Potsdam reaches around 2,000 people in need with food donations every week. Imke Georgiew, Head of Tafel Potsdam, emphasizes the positive impact of the partnership: "The collaboration gives us a certain level of donation security and better planning. We can report our needs to SPRK on a weekly basis and therefore receive food regularly, especially fresh fruit and vegetables."
The successful collaboration between SPRK.global and Tafel Potsdam shows that innovative solutions in the digital economy can make a contribution to reducing hunger and food waste. Both partners remain committed to getting surplus food to where it is really needed and making a sustainable contribution.
