WBS buys Punk Inc.

The company is thus acquiring a start-up from the continuing education sector and doing so retroactively as of January 2022.

According to its own information, the WBS Group is buying the start-up Punk Incorporated GmbH in its entirety and even retroactively as of January 2022. With this move, the provider of educational services wants to expand its offering in the e-learning sector. Founder Dominic von Proeck is relinquishing the management of the start-up with the takeover.

Von Proeck founded the start-up in 2016 and has since worked with companies such as Allianz, Ikea and Siemens, among others. Specifically, the start-up offers a training and learning concept for specialists and managers that, according to the company's own information, is based on artificial intelligence (AI). Among other things, the training will focus on leadership and complex problem solving.

At education provider WBS, they see the acquisition as an opportunity to buy in innovation that may not have been available in-house before. "As a mid-sized company, we benefit from the innovation of the startup Punk, especially in AI-powered scaling and personalization of learning content. We will use the improved learning experience for new products under the Punk by WBS brand," says Joachim Giese, CEO of WBS Group.
