The money will go to companies that are fighting the climate crisis. Speedinvest has already invested in two companies.

One of the largest early-stage investors, Speedinvest, has set up a new 80 million euro fund called "Climate & Industry Opportunity". The company, which is based in Germany and Austria, intends to use this fund to provide long-term support for start-ups that are already in Speedinvest's portfolio. They should all be geared towards sustainability. However, some young companies that do not yet exist are also to be supported. The investment company states that it wants to help Europe become climate-neutral by 2050.

Speedinvest has already invested in two existing portfolio companies with the new fund. The Polish company Packhelp was supported in its Series B round and Tier Mobility in its Series D round. The "Climate & Industry Opportunity" fund is backed by plastics producer Greiner, paper manufacturer Heinzel and technology company Knapp, among others. And one fund has also invested in the fund: New Enterprise Associates.

"Investing in climate tech is a must for us as a fund - and for the industry as a whole. Apart from the moral obligation we all share, there is obvious growth potential in the sector," says Oliver Holle, Managing Partner at Speedinvest. "The talent and entrepreneurial energy of an entire generation is now focused on developing the technologies that will ensure the survival of our planet. Supporting these innovators is what we want and need to do."

Speedinvest is a pan-European venture capital firm for early-stage companies. Its portfolio already includes well-known companies such as Wefox, Bitpanda, Tier Mobility, Gostudent, Curve, Coachhub, Schüttflix, Tourradar, Adverity and Twaice.
