The Austrian startup notarity now also enables secure and fully digital notarization of documents in Germany. Already every sixth Austrian notary's office offers appointments via the platform.

Vienna - The Austrian startup notarity is a European platform for online notary services. Effective immediately, the company is also offering its services in Germany. Customers can use the platform to have notarizations performed securely, in compliance with data protection laws and completely digitally.

The notarial act is a proven method of securing private and business agreements and keeping documents safe. Notarity has fully digitized this process, allowing notaries and clients to perform notarizations for any type of document online. This applies to company founders, banks, real estate companies as well as private individuals. Security and data protection have top priority. Since its foundation in 2021, notarity has already certified more than 10,000 documents according to European standards. The company has not only been able to win over numerous customers, but has also convinced investors. In a recently completed financing round, the startup secured millions in investment.

Notarizations are valid through bilateral agreement

The use of notarity in Germany is made possible by a bilateral agreement between Germany and Austria that simplifies cross-border legal transactions. Under this agreement, notarized documents are valid in both countries without additional formalities such as an apostille. The Higher Regional Court (OLG) of Celle has also confirmed in a decision that documents notarized online in Austria are equivalent to German notarizations.

The services offered by notarity in Germany include the certification of all types of documents. Whether it is the notarization of a signature on a commercial register application, a power of attorney, or an affidavit, the process is always fast, efficient, unbureaucratic, secure, and completely digital. Appointments can be booked at short notice (10 minutes before the appointment) and at flexible times (weekdays between 7 am and 10 pm) via notarity. Before the appointment, only the online verification process needs to be completed, during which an electronic signature is created. During the video conference with a notary, the documents are digitally signed. After notarization, the certified documents are available for download or, if desired, in written form. These can be used worldwide, and if required, notarity also takes care of the preparation of an apostille.

The German market is very much dominated by bureaucratization and the associated lengthy processes. In contrast, legislation in Austria is very progressive and digitization-friendly in this area.

Jakobus Schuster, CEO notarity

CEO Jakobus Schuster sees great potential in Germany for digitizing the notarization process. He emphasizes that the German market is characterized by bureaucracy and lengthy processes, while Austria is progressive and digitization-friendly in this area. The company is pleased to now be able to assist German companies and individuals with notarial acts and speed up notarizations in any form. This makes the process digital, fast and efficient for German citizens.
